Launch of ‘Breath of Fresh Éire’ – Art Collaboration Between Gaisce, Oberstown and An Garda Síochána Balbriggan

Breath of Fresh Éire, a ground-breaking art collaboration between Gaisce – The President’s Award, Oberstown Children Detention Campus and An Garda Síochána Balbriggan was officially launched on Thursday March 28th.   Breath of Fresh Éire consists of three art installations, created by the young people of Oberstown and overseen by artist Joe Caslin. The three parts of the project are:   Life’s Patterns, a series of ten individual art pieces drawn by Gardaí and the young people at Oberstown;  A Breath of Fresh Éire, a large piece of artwork pained by the young people and community Gardaí.  Outreach, a large mural, created

Two Gaisce Awardees from CBS James’s Street Receive Their Bronze Awards

On March 7th , 2024, Gaisce – The President’s Award was delighted to have the opportunity to present awards to two young people from CBS James's Street who completed their award with the School Completion Programme Liberties Dublin 8 Cluster (SCP). SCP is a targeted support programme for Primary and Secondary young people. This support is available under the Delivering Equality of Opportunity in Schools (DEIS) Programme and funded by Tusla Education Support Services (TESS). Aoife Prendergast, Anna-Marie Turley and Orla Leahy join Gaisce’s Council

Joy Winston appointed Development Officer for North Dublin and Wicklow

Gaisce – The President’s Award is delighted to announce the appointment of Joy Winston to the position of Development Officer for North Dublin and Wicklow with the organisation.  Joy has been promoted to the position, having previously held the role of Administrator with Gaisce since 2021. Before joining Gaisce, Joy worked in senior retail management for over 20 years. Originally from Dublin and currently based in Meath, Joy is passionate about the importance of physical and mental health in young people. Gaisce Award Ceremony held at the Department of Justice

On February 27th 2024, the 2nd Youth Justice Gaisce Ceremony was held in the Department of Justice. Minister of State James Browne TD joined Gaisce's CEO Avril Ryan to present Gaisce Awards to a group of young people from a range of YDPs. Scouting Ireland and Gaisce Announce New Registration System for Participants

Scouting Ireland and Gaisce – The President’s Award is launching a new system for the registration and completion of the CSA / Gaisce Dual Award for Scouts, Ventures and Rovers. The new system will simplify the registration and completion experience for all scouts who wish to pursue a Gaisce award alongside their Scouting awards. Scouts registering for the Gaisce award should follow the new process: Youth member to select a mentor and discuss what is involved in achieving the award with them. PAL Appreciation Awards Ceremony 2024

On Saturday 27th January 2024 in Farmleigh House, Phoenix Park, we were honoured to recognise our hard-working President Award Leaders (PALs) from across Ireland at the 2024 PAL Appreciation Awards.    The awards celebrated 15 PALs who have supported young people to take part in the Gaisce programme for more than five years; retiring PALs; and PALs who mentored a Gaisce Gold awardee in 2023.  The PALs represented various organisations that work with Gaisce, including post-primary schools, youth organisations, prisons and prison schools.   We were delighted to host two amazing speakers at the event - former Chief Medical Officer of

Three Gaisce Awardees from Stewarts Care Ballyfermot receive their Silver Awards

We hosted an award ceremony for three fantastic young people from Stewarts Care, Ballyfermot Hub at Gaisce's office, Ratra House (Phoenix Park). Beatrice, Conor and Vasyl were each presented with their Gaisce Silver medals after completing 26 weeks of the Gaisce programme. Stwewart’s Care is a voluntary organisation providing comprehensive community-based services to people with intellectual disabilities since 1869. Beatrice, Conor and Vasyl did amazing work for their Gaisce Awards most noticeably litter picking in Drunfinn Park Ballyfermot for the Community Involvement aspect of their Gaisce Award. This park was previously underused due to rubbish, particularly the playground and pitch
