Following a successful debut at the National Ploughing Championships last year, Gaisce is thrilled to be back for 2026! The Championships will take place in Screggan, Tullamore, Co. Offaly, from 15 to 17 September 2026, with more than 275,000 visitors expected across the three-day event. You can find the Gaisce team in the Supporting People | Supporting Business Hub at Stand 127, Row 6, Block 4, where visitors can meet our fantastic Youth Ambassadors, chat to members of the Gaisce Team and take part in a range of exciting competitions throughout the event. From feeling connected to your communities and fostering a sense of purpose, to building confidence, lifelong skills, and encouraging involvement in physical activity, Gaisce participants have shown just how impactful the Award is for young people. Gaisce’s first ever participant survey, provides fantastic insights into the Award’s positive effect on young people, including: ❤️90% of Gaisce Awardees feel more connected to their communities on completion of the Award, with 89% reporting that the Award programme “gave them a sense of purpose”. 💼Participants also felt that achieving their Award made them more confident

21st August 2026: Following a successful first year, Gaisce – The President’s Award, in partnership with Student Volunteer Ireland, is delighted to announce the return of the Roots and Shoots: A Higher Education Global Citizenship Initiative for a second year, with continued support from Irish Aid. Originally launched in September 2025, the initiative set out to provide third-level students undertaking their Gaisce Award with opportunities to explore the links between local action and global impact through volunteering, collaboration, and Global Citizenship Education (GCE). While completing their Gaisce Bronze Adventure Journey, the Gaisce Comms team had the pleasure of tagging along with CLAY Youth Project to The Cavan Centre! Despite the rain, spirits were high as we embarked on our journey. From kayaking and hiking through the lush forests to exploring the climbing centre, the wonderful staff and group leaders made sure everyone was having fun, working together, and making memories to last a lifetime. This week, we had the pleasure of chatting with our Gaisce Youth Ambassador, Swasti Sahoo, about all things Gaisce, future plans, and the exciting projects she has been working on! Swasti is a 17-year-old student from Adamstown Community College. Her interest in Gaisce began when our fantastic Development Officer, Ger Brady, visited her school and gave a talk about it. Gaisce – The President's Award is delighted to welcome Ayomide Ayeni to our Business Support team. Ayomide Ayeni - Business Support Administrator Ayomide is an interdisciplinary researcher with a rich background spanning academic research, infrastructure consultancy, governance, and community-focused initiatives across Ireland, the UK, and Nigeria. Ayomide holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Obafemi Awolowo University, and went on to complete an LLM in International Human Rights Law from the University of Galway. Her academic and professional journey has deeply strengthened her expertise in regulatory systems, compliance frameworks, and evidence-based decision-making.
