From Gaisce Awardees to Olympians! The 2024 Paris Olympics has wrapped up, and we at Gaisce - The President's Award have been on the edge of our seats watching the Irish team compete. Congratulations to all our Olympians, especially those who are Gaisce Awardees and made it all the way to Paris! Our Gaisce Olympians are: Jack Woolley who competed in the Taekwondo competition and achieved his Gaisce Bronze Award in September 2015. We are delighted to publish the 2023 Gaisce Impact Report, celebrating the notable achievements of young people participating in Gaisce across 2023. View by clicking button below or clicking here. Áine Kerr Announced as New Chair of Gaisce Council
Roderic O’Gorman, Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth has announced the appointment of Áine Kerr as the new Chair of the Council of Gaisce – The President’s Award. Áine is an award-winning entrepreneur and broadcaster and brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new role. Making the announcement, Minister O'Gorman said “I am delighted to appoint such an eminently qualified person as Ms Kerr to this important position. Jennifer Gallagher Appointed Gaisce’s Project Officer
Gaisce – The President’s Award is delighted to announce the appointment of Jennifer Gallagher to the position of Project Officer with the organisation. She joins the Operations and Development team, where she will be supporting adults delivering the Gaisce programme to young people in custody and the youth justice sector, expanding Gaisce's reach, building connections, and more. Before joining the Gaisce team, Jennifer's work experience was in Youth Work, beginning as a volunteer and transitioning to a full-time Youth Worker after completing a BA in Community Sports Leadership at DKIT. Gaisce Says Goodbye to Chairperson John Cunningham
The team at Gaisce – The President’s Award today said a fond farewell to John Cunningham. John, who has been Chairperson of the Gaisce Council, departs the role having completed his six-year term in office. The Ride Away From The Storm Art Exhibition – Gaisce, Oberstown, IMMA, SPICE
Overview In 2022, 12 young people doing their Gaisce Award at Oberstown Children Detention Campus collaborated with the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) to curate an art exhibition for their Community Involvement Challenge Area. The young people chose subjects that depicted their own personal history or that expressed their connection with Irish history, heritage and culture. Art teachers guided the young artists, who also took part in workshops facilitated by the IMMA SPICE project – a citizen curation initiative to help groups with limited or no access to art galleries to connect with and draw inspiration from the IMMA
Four Gaisce Awardees from Prosper Meath Receive Their Bronze Awards
Gaisce – The President’s Award was proud to host four fantastic young people and their families along with their two President’s Award leaders (PALs) from Prosper, Leighsbrook Service, Navan at an awards ceremony in Gaisce HQ in Phoenix Park. Adam, Cian, Robbie, and Louise were each presented with their Bronze medals after completing thirteen weeks of the Gaisce programme. The four did amazing work to achieve their Gaisce Awards including engaging in a Disability Awareness Programme with a local school, learning Irish Sign Language for a performance of Silent Night and making Christmas care packages for residents in a local
Chris Moloney Appointed Gaisce’s Business Support Administrator
Gaisce – The President’s Award is delighted to announce the appointment of Chris Moloney to the position of Business Support Administrator with the organisation. He joins the Business Support team, where he will be providing support to key operational areas, day-to-day admin tasks, running the Gaisce office, and more. Chris has recently started as a Business Support Administrator in Gaisce. Prior to this, he worked in companies such as Permanent TSB and Grant Thornton. In Permanent TSB he worked in both the Customer Complaints Department and the Remediation Department. In both capacities, Chris actively interacted with customers to deliver exceptional
