This November, Gaisce – The President’s Award will host Future Generations: A Gaisce Climate Justice Conference in partnership with the National Youth Council of Ireland (NYCI). The event will take place during One World Week (18-25 November) and Future Generations will take place on Saturday 18th November between 10am – 3pm at the Carmichael Centre, North Brunswick Street, Dublin 7. Celebrating Lá Gaisce 2023
Lá Gaisce, our annual celebration of all things Gaisce, takes place on Wednesday 25th October, and we want everyone to join in the fun! Lá Gaisce aims to shine a light on the accomplishments of all our fantastic young people and hear all about all the craic you had along the way. Join parkrun’s Gaisce Challenge Weekend!
Gaisce – The President’s Award is celebrating Lá Gaisce with our Challenge Partner parkrun this October bank holiday weekend (Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th October) with a special Gaisce parkrun Challenge Weekend. We’re encouraging any Gaisce participant who is volunteering at parkrun as part of their Community Involvement challenge, or anyone who is participating in parkrun as part of their Physical Recreation challenge, to go out to your local parkrun to celebrate Lá Gaisce. PAL Spotlight – Frieda Bent | Gaisce Stories Where are you a President’s Award Leader, and what do you do there? KARE is an organisation based in counties, Kildare, West Wicklow and Offaly, that provides service and supports for people with intellectual disabilities and their families. It was founded in 1967 by a group or parents and friends of children with intellectual disabilities who set out to ensure that they could live at home with their families and be educated locally. Foróige Apache Youth Club – Art Exhibition | Gaisce Stories Our Development Officer Stephen Peers visited the Foróige Apache Youth Club for their Art Exhibition on Saturday 1st April. Their participants have been very busy working on their Gaisce Awards Aaron Hughes, currently completing his Gold Award, made a recipe book as well as growing vegetables and herbs from seed as part of his Silver Award. Avril Ryan Appointed CEO of Gaisce – The President’s Award
Gaisce – Gradam an Uachtaráin – The President’s Award, Ireland's national non-formal education youth award, has announced the appointment of Avril Ryan as the new Chief Executive Officer for the organisation. Avril joined Gaisce in 2017 as Operations and Development Manager before taking on the role of Head of Operations and Development in 2020.
