About

The Alzheimer Society of Ireland is the leading dementia-specific service provider in Ireland. The ASI works across the country in the heart of local communities, providing dementia-specific services and supports and advocating for the rights and needs of all people living with dementia and their carers.

Challenge Area Activities

Personal Skill:
The Alzheimer Society of Ireland’s Creating a Dementia Inclusive Generation e-learning programme aims to provide young people with education on dementia and its effects on families and the individual.

Community Involvement :
The ASI offers several opportunities for young people to engage with the community through volunteering or by hosting and participating in fundraising events.

Programme Breakdown

Creating a Dementia Inclusive Generation is a three‑phase course.

Phases One and Two can be used for the Personal Skill challenge area.
• Phase Three can be used for Community Involvement.

Phase One: Students are invited to immerse themselves in the comprehensive Dementia Awareness & Anti-Stigma E-Learning Programme – “The Brain, From the Fantastic to the Forgetful”, consisting of five modules. The programme educates young people about the brain, brain health, ageing and dementia.

Phase Two: Here students are invited to get involved in Peer Education. Using the ASI’s comprehensive Peer Education Toolkit, students are guided on how to create and give lessons based on what they have learned in the E-Learning Course.

Phase Three: Students are encouraged to get involved with the local community and put what they have learned into practice. They can volunteer with the ASI or set up/ get involved with various fundraising events.
