Weekend 2️⃣ in Galway was one to remember 🙌
👏 16 young people returned for the final Roots and Shoots Gaisce Gold Residential with Student Volunteer Ireland, supported by @irish.aid, where they explored the Sustainable Development Goals and how advocacy can create real change.💬🌍
They took part in an interactive session with Mark Kelly from the ESD Academy at ATU, heard from Marie-Anne Michel from Trócaire on running strong advocacy campaigns, and listened to Mariyam Bangura share her experiences as a feminist advocate in Sierra Leone.
The weekend wrapped up with certificate presentations from Gaisce CEO, Avril Ryan.

Gaisce – The President’s Award was delighted to take part in @oxfamireland ’s launch of the Global Education Movement (GEM) in Wexford recently. This groundbreaking initiative aims to strengthen Global Citizenship Education (GCE) across Ireland.
Our CEO, @avril_ryan2024, addressed attendees at the event and highlighted Gaisce’s ongoing commitment to GCE — including our @irish.aid –funded Roots & Shoots programme, delivered in partnership with @student_volunteer.ie in third-level institutions nationwide.

Roots and Shoots: Gaisce Gold Residential Weekend 1 took over Ratra House in the Phoenix Park from 9 to 11 January, bringing young people together from Meath, Roscommon, Offaly, Dublin, and Westmeath for workshops and activities inspired by the Sustainable Development Goals.
The Gold Residential is where comfort zones get stretched, confidence grows, and connections happen fast.
