Sligo native Shauna Hoey has joined Gaisce – The President’s Award as a Development Officer.
Shauna has worked in the youth sector since graduating from Sligo Institute of Technology in 2013.
While completing her degree, Shauna undertook a study abroad semester in Denmark where she studied social pedagogy for four months. Following the end of her Erasmus experience, she moved to New York to complete her work experience with the Aisling Irish Centre situated in Yonkers.
Shauna then moved to the hills of Donegal as a Youth Council project worker. During her time here she guided the Youth Council to receive a Garda Youth award and much more.
In addition, Shauna has also worked in a cross-border project as part of PEACE IV.
Shauna fills her free time by being involved in her local drama group and has participated in many productions – her favourite to date is “Big Maggie”.
She is also passionate about GAA and is now involved with her local Mothers and Others group.
Shauna is delighted to be joining the Gaisce team.
