About

The Irish Film Institute (IFI) is both an arthouse cinema and a national body that supports Irish film heritage. It is Ireland's national cultural institution for film. The IFI aims to exhibit the finest in independent, Irish and international cinema, preserve Ireland's moving image heritage at the Irish Film Archive, and encourage engagement with film through its various educational programmes.

Challenge Area Activities

Personal Skill
Increase your knowledge of Irish film and the film industry in general at Ireland's national film institute.

Programme Breakdown

Participants can work to improve their film literacy by picking a film genre and watching one film a week. Participants can track their progress by keeping a weekly film journal or log.

The IFI offers its under-22 card, which allows young people to access films at the IFI at a lower price. The IFI also offers career events throughout the year, where participants can enhance their knowledge of cinema and the Irish film industry.

For Participants aged 16+. The IFI runs a Youth Panel, and panel participants could use their time as members of the panel for their Personal Skill Challenge Area as they learn the role of becoming Youth programmers during the year, programming a monthly film at the IFI.

The IFI will begin recruiting participants for the panel this September, so keep an eye out for updates.
