Personal Skill Take part in the Career Skills Competition

Programme Breakdown

Gaisce Participants can take part in the Career Skills Competition with Careers Portal. The competition promotes the importance of Career Skills and encourages the value of independent career research. It gives Participants the chance to reflect on the skills they developed during their work experience and explain how those skills can help them in their future careers. Each participant needs to fill in a diary of their work experience illustrating the training they received, the interactions they had with staff, the challenges they faced and the key career skills they observed and developed. They then choose a career of their choice to investigate, this can be based on their work experience but doesn’t have to be. Their Career Investigation should include a description of the job, the knowledge requirements, the skills that are needed and the educational pathways. Finally, they reflect on how their work experience and career investigation have influenced their career decision-making process.
