About

SciFest is a STEM fair programme celebrating student engagement in science, technology, engineering and maths. The aim of SciFest is to ensure every second-level student irrespective of their ability, gender, background or circumstance has the opportunity to participate in a STEM fair thus lowering barriers and bringing the talents of diverse populations into the innovation pipeline. SciFest operates across the whole island of Ireland, throughout the entire school year and, being locally and regionally based and free-to-enter, it is highly inclusive and accessible.

Programme Breakdown

Community Involvement - Participants can organise a STEM fair in their school or college for their Community Involvement. A SciFest STEM fair typically includes project exhibitions, judging, keynote speakers, an awards ceremony, and networking opportunities.

In order to meet the criteria, participants may need to increase the number of weeks they are involved in organising and promoting the event. This may be particularly appealing to college students involved in supporting a regional co-ordinator of a SciFest@College regional fair. Guidelines of how to set up a far are here: Scifest@School Guidelines | SciFest

Personal Skill -  Participants can prepare and present a STEM project for Personal Skill. Resources on STEM projects and projects ideas are here - General Resources | SciFest

Note: Regardless of the number of hours a student is involved in SciFest, a maximum of one hour per week will contribute towards their Gaisce Award.
